LYFE Academy works because we focus not only on what young people experience, but how they experience it. We create an environment where young people want to participate, feel connected, have a voice, and have real opportunities to apply what they learn.

YOUTH WANT TO BE HERE

​We create experiences young people choose to be part of through culture, creativity, meaningful experiences, and opportunities that build connection and belonging.

LEARNING BECOMES ACTION

​Young people do more than sit and learn. They have opportunities to apply what they learn through workshops, career exploration, internships, entrepreneurship, hands-on experiences, and community engagement.

YOUTH HAVE A VOICE

​Young people help shape the experience. Through our Youth Advisory Board and ongoing feedback, young people have opportunities to influence programming, engagement, evaluation, and what success looks like.

​WE BUILD TRUSTING RELATIONSHIPS

​Young people need people they can trust, learn from, and grow with. We create opportunities for meaningful relationships with peers, mentors, professionals, community members, and trusted adults.

WE MEET YOUNG PEOPLE WHERE THEY ARE 

​Young people come to us with different experiences, strengths, interests, challenges, and goals. We do not expect every young person to need or want the same thing. We meet them where they are and create pathways that make sense for them.

WE REMOVE BARRIERS

​We recognize that participation is not always as simple as saying yes. Transportation, cost, scheduling, technology, access, family responsibilities, and other barriers can prevent young people from participating. We work to identify and address those barriers.

WE CONNECT THE OPPORTUNITIES

​Education, career development, personal development, behavioral health, and community connection should not exist separately. LYFE Academy connects these experiences so young people can see how the different parts of their LYFE influence one another.

WE CREATE OPPORTUNITIES TO EXPLORE

​Young people should have the opportunity to see what is possible before they are expected to decide what they want to do. We create opportunities to explore careers, interests, communities, cultures, relationships, entrepreneurship, education, and new experiences.

WE LISTEN AND ADAPT

​We do not assume we always know what young people need. We listen to their experiences, collect feedback, look at the data, and make adjustments based on what we learn.

​

The goal is not simply to get young people into a program. The goal is to create an experience they value, relationships they trust, opportunities they can use, and a pathway they can see themselves continuing.
